Thank God We Have Ice Fishing

image

That is what many of the businesses are saying with lots of fisherman trying their luck out on the lakes. Many years we have had very little ice but this year most lakes are froze with great ice conditions and fish are biting.

Lyman’s on the Lake and Shanty Rentals on Houghton Lake reports fair pike fishing with gills starting to bite down the south shore weed bed. Walleye fishing is still good out on the Middle Grounds.

HIggins Lake the smelt are still biting with good lake trout fishing. The small perch are still biting with nobody locating the big perch that bit all summer and fall. We are expecting a good perch run on the lake but first they have to find keeper perch.

Lake St. Helen has a good bite this week with lots of walleye being caught.

Sanford Sport Shop reports Sanford and Wixom Lake both have good crappie and gills starting biting the last few days.

Good perch fishing on Big Glenn this week
